How to be a Faithful Steward of God’s Provisions in 7 Steps

You might be wondering how you can become a faithful steward of all the financial resources from the Lord to you. First, you need clarity on who is a steward, what are your responsibilities as a steward, and to whom you are accountable as a steward.

When the Lord gives you anything, you become a steward. You are a recipient of God’s grace. Faithful stewards manage, distribute, and protect God’s resources. You become accountable to the Lord for how well you manage His money.

Clear biblical commands and principles regarding money are found, for the purposes of this message, in 2 Corinthians 9:6-14. There are numerous verses on money in the Bible.  Follow these 7 steps as your launching platform:

(1) Begin by reading 2 Corinthians 9:6-14 as a starting point.

(2) Pray for understanding and trust the Holy Spirit for wisdom.

(3) Find the Attributes of God.

(4) Find the Promises of God.

(5) Find the Scriptural principles.

(6) Find the commands and obey the commands.

(7) Give the Glory to the Lord.

Meditate on these 7 steps so that these truths will sink in. Write them, type them, text them, and post them on your social media. Repeat these steps, as the Spirit leads you.

For the more serious stewards, take the time to compare Scripture with Scripture if a verse is referenced. Use Bible commentaries to broaden your understanding. Search for more verses on money and biblical stewardship. Prayerfully make a commitment to be more faithful in your stewardship. Ask the Lord to make you a cheerful giver. The Lord will be glorified.

Dear Heavenly Father, You are our Great Provider. I am rejoicing because You love a cheerful giver. Help me to apply Your Word to my heart. Help me to be more generous. Empower me to be a better steward of Your gracious provisions to me. Give me a greater passion to give more so that the Gospel can reach the nations through your servants. Help me to pay off my debts so that I can give even more. Thank You for blessing me to be a blessing, Lord. In the Name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
