Lamb of God: Our Christmas Gift

Looking for the Blessed Hope

Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29, 36), was born to die, that you and I might live!  As we discovered yesterday, Jesus is both the Lamb of God and the Good Shepherd.  He was born in a lowly stable, visited by lowly shepherds and intermingled among lowly people.  Yet, in doing so, He became our Good Shepherd!

Miraculously, God granted us a way of salvation and redemption.  But when was that plan conceived in the mind of God?  When did He recognize that created beings would be less than perfect, and in desperate need of a Savior?  When did He devise the plan of salvation and redemption?  Graciously, Scripture clearly provides those answers in these passages:

…the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”

‘Christ died for our sins’ – This is Good News.
Christ was ‘raised on the third day’- This is Good News.
‘Jesus is Lord’ – This is Good News.
This is the Good News we must ‘pass on’ to others. In our world, there is so much bad news. We must not…

Stoking the Fires of Prayer and Intercession (especially for those who struggle)

Christ-Centered Christianity

Does the call to a life of prayer and intercession seem daunting to you?  Do you feel that an effective, consistent prayer life is beyond your reach?  Have you tried to pray and intercede for others regularly but have failed miserably?  I can relate to all of those sentiments and conditions at one time and another in my walk with the Lord.  There have also been regular seasons in my life that have been marked by a deep, fervent, and abiding spirit of prayer and intercession.  I’ve known both ends of the spectrum, and a wide range in-between.

In the drier times, I’ve felt like I have this little “match” of faith and desire and I place it up against these giant logs of prayer and intercession and all I get is a little puff of smoke.  The match goes out and I’m done.
