Scripture of the Week

2 Timothy 2:22

“So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.”

I feel a sermon coming on but will try to keep this as tight as I can.

In this passage Paul is teaching Timothy about being a worker approved by God (2 Timothy 2:14-26). And this verse drops right after Paul has instructed Timothy within that chapter to be a vessel for honorable use, ready for every good work.

Leading into this verse Paul is making the case that because the Lord knows who are His, and we can be vessels of honorable use, let us make war on sin and move toward the Lord with those who are doing the same (2 Timothy 2:19; 21 & 22). Here is how Paul builds that out.
