My Journey Through the Valley

In my time reading the Word this morning, I was so moved by a passage in Jeremiah, that I felt compelled to share my thoughts on my blog this morning.

“They say to the wood, ‘You are my father,’ and to stone, ‘You gave me birth.’ They have turned their backs on me and not their faces; yet when they are in trouble, they say, ‘Come and save us!’ Where are the gods you made for yourselves? Let them come if they can save you when you are in trouble!” – Jeremiah 2:27-28a

Now, in this particular passage, Israel and Judah had completely forsaken the Lord after many years of idolatry. Almost every successive king seemed to be even more evil and detestable, encouraging the people to worship false gods and forsake the One True Living God. The Lord was absolutely fed up.
