Do you know what the number one cause of divorce is among the married population here in the US? Researchers at Kansas State University surveyed 4,500 couples as part of a study. They found that no matter how much money a person makes, fighting about money is the biggest contributor to divorce. The study also revealed that it takes a couple longer to recover from a fight about finances than any other fight. Apparently couples use harsher language with each other, and the arguments last longer.
So what’s the solution? The leader of the study says that new couples should use a financial planner as part of premarital counseling. It is also recommended that couples pull their credit reports and talk through how to handle finances early on…
