Paul is on a roll in the first part of his letter to the Ephesians. He’s painted this glorious explosion of praise at how great this God is that we serve. It’s on that basis as well as the good report that he’s received that pulls him into prayer.
The point of that prayer can be summed up in the sentiment – I want you to know Him.
It is such a weaving prayer request. He wants God to give the readers the wisdom and knowledge in the revelation of Him. Not an academic knowledge that accumulates information to regurgitate. An indepth intimate searching and developing understanding of just who He is He can be known through His Son.
We know it’s more than a head knowledge thing, because looks for the heart to be captured by the light of the knowledge of Him. Knowing what we have in Him…
