“I will bow down towards Your holy temple
in awe of You”
For all our intimacy with God Scripture frequently reminds us that we should not treat Him lightly or casually. David picks this up when he speaks of bowing down in awe of the Lord.
God is a living Person. He is the Lord God Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth and all that is. He is described as being so holy and glorious that no one can see His face and live. His power and authority are absolute and, as He put it very simply,
“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”
David also says,
“If you, O LORD, kept a record of sins,
O Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness;
therefore you are feared.”
