Advent Quotes: John Piper – Souls overwhelmed by the condescension of God

Lent & Beyond

“The only people whose soul can truly magnify the Lord

are people like Elizabeth and Mary — people who acknowledge

their lowly estate and are overwhelmed

by the condescension of the magnificent God.

Praying for San Bernardino

Gracious Heavenly Father,  we come to You with sad hearts, asking You to comfort the bereaved families of those who lost their lives today in San Bernardino, California.  We are also asking for Your healing mercies for everyone who was wounded.

Lord, touch the hearts of every person who has been affected by this horrific attack, and please allow them to feel Your love and tender mercies. They need You more than ever. Help them through these difficult times. Thank You, Lord.

Awaken the unbelieving world to Your saving Grace.  In Jesus Name. Amen.

“The LORD is our refuge and strength, our present help in time of trouble”   Psalm 46:1.

Evening Prayer

Three Iron Nails

Gracious Father, help me to understand that my life grows out of what I put into my days. Forgive me for the unspoken words and the kind deeds which I kept for rare days, and had so few occasions to use. May I be as useful in kindness as I am in work, remembering that to thee every day is a golden day. Amen.
