This week’s song is O Come, Emanuel by The Clark Sisters
O come, O come, Emmanuel is a very old Christmas hymn that dates back to around the 12th century. If you take a look at the lyrics split into section below you’ll notice the importance of each lyrics, each stanza, each word… simply amazing. Israel, like sheep, had wandered away from God. They were help prisoner by their sin, they longed for the promised Saviour who would restore their relationship with the Father thus making “intercession for the transgressors” (Isaiah 53:6;12). And “ransom captive Israel” and that saviour is Jesus… Emmanuel.
